[00:01:07] Speaker A: Hello, and welcome to episode 514 of the League rundown. We ain't covering shit, this episode. So it's titled one last ride in honor of one last ride with our mainstay, main host of the podcast, Sean Jiggly Duff. Duffy. Duffy. Welcome to the show family. [00:01:30] Speaker B: That's just like a Vin diesel line. Yeah, I don't know. Mazelle told me that I needed to shave my hair, and I hate to. [00:01:37] Speaker A: Say you got a full head right now. [00:01:40] Speaker B: You hate to say that, huh? [00:01:43] Speaker A: Maybe by the end of the episode, we can convince you to shave it off. [00:01:45] Speaker B: Okay, that's actually what the Patreon episode is, is it's me just shaving my head. So subscribe to our Patreon. [00:01:52] Speaker A: Yes. If we get to 50 subscribers, he will shave his head, and I hope we do that before his wedding. That'd be great. [00:01:59] Speaker B: I got four weeks to the wedding. I don't know if that's gonna happen before that. [00:02:01] Speaker A: Oh, God. Joining us, as always, on Sean's last episode is the ever present Jackson Twitch TV. [00:02:08] Speaker C: Jackzoman. Come watch me get trolled and ranked. [00:02:11] Speaker A: Also coming out straight from the can, we got badger. [00:02:15] Speaker D: I like how you. You didn't even say we're gonna start the episode. You just started counting down from five. [00:02:22] Speaker A: Yeah. Welcome to the new sheriff. [00:02:25] Speaker E: Getting ready to ride this Bronco. [00:02:28] Speaker D: I was just like, he's like, in five, four. I'm like, wait, we're starting? [00:02:32] Speaker A: Okay, think of something fun to say. You know, there has been multiple times, by the way, when Sean will start an episode. I'm like, I have no idea what I'd be to say. [00:02:43] Speaker B: Hey, just like me. I have no idea what I'm gonna call people half the time. Mizelle took, speaking of six weeks for me to actually come up with a name for you. [00:02:52] Speaker A: And it wasn't even the best name. But that's a teaser. We'll get to him later, because first up, he loves his pickles. It's slick. [00:03:03] Speaker F: Apparently, I like my pickles. Now, in all honesty, I'm not even a pickles fan, but I think Dustin is dying right now. [00:03:09] Speaker A: More of a cucumber guy. [00:03:12] Speaker B: None of those names was right, and I love everything about that. [00:03:17] Speaker A: I guess he is bickle, technically, but still says slick on discord. [00:03:22] Speaker F: Whatever works for you. [00:03:23] Speaker B: Whatever works. [00:03:24] Speaker A: But we already said he's gonna be here as well. We got Mister Mazelpio. Hello. [00:03:29] Speaker E: I'm dying laughing over here. [00:03:32] Speaker A: It's a good start. [00:03:34] Speaker E: I just want to say it's going to get sappy. All kinds of points that I have, Duffy. And you guys had the conversation to bring me on, so it's a pleasure to see you off, Duffy. And you've been nothing but an awesome rock for me when I joined this podcast, so thank you. [00:03:48] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. Thank you, man. [00:03:49] Speaker A: Absolutely. And finally joining us because we got a big cast today. He might be a zoomer, but he's not on TikTok. It's Hawk. What? That's my introduction. You're not wrong. [00:04:02] Speaker E: It's so bad. [00:04:03] Speaker A: I love it. [00:04:04] Speaker E: It's so bad. It's so good. [00:04:05] Speaker B: You could have gotten, like, look at the sky. It's a bird. It's hawk. [00:04:10] Speaker A: Well, it's better than what we usually call him in our friend group, which I don't know, honestly, that might be a better nickname. [00:04:18] Speaker E: You know what? [00:04:18] Speaker A: If I have to be the token Zoomer, I can accept this, you know? It is what it is. [00:04:23] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Wait. We get a hawk versus mongoose Zoomer showdown. If Mongoose, Zoomer comes back. [00:04:29] Speaker A: Natural enemies. Yeah, I think. [00:04:30] Speaker B: I don't know. Fuck it. [00:04:31] Speaker A: Science. But that's the cast today, everybody. I'm curious. Google it and let me know. This would have a great patriot content. I'm just saying, that's usually the bullshitter we cover there, but Mongoose are eaten by hawks and other raptors. [00:04:45] Speaker B: Oh, no. So that's where he wins. Thanks a lot. [00:04:50] Speaker A: Sorry, we haven't seen him in a while. Thanks. Look, the man's gotta eat. All right? [00:04:53] Speaker B: That's fair. I understand. [00:04:55] Speaker A: Speaking of eating, we're all gonna be eating good. When professional League of Legends picks back up this summer, LPL, the first of the major regions to come back. And it's very soon, very shortly after this episode will be in your ears. Mazelle. It's come back June 1. What should we be excited for? For the opening of LPL? [00:05:12] Speaker E: That's a great question because I haven't even gotten my schedule yet. So beautiful. But it starts on the first. It's gonna be great. We did see some leaks, though. I guess. Not leaks, but just translations from Weibo, where it will be two best of three s every day with different groups playing on each day. There were some pretty hype matchups. I believe Weibo is facing nip in their first matchup of the split, which should be a lot of fun. They're in the same group. That's probably, like the most wild group, but there's a lot of changes to LPL. If you have no idea, then maybe we can cover it some other time. [00:05:43] Speaker A: I was gonna say, can you give spark notes? Cause I know that there's different groups and there's three different stages of summer split now. [00:05:50] Speaker E: So there's a play in stage now which is gonna consist of best of three fearless draft games. They are split into four groups, which were all drawn on the 25th. So the stipulations for drawing was you can't have two teams with arenas like home arenas in the same group. And then all the top teams, the top four teams got seeded into different groups from last split. [00:06:13] Speaker A: Okay, cool. And the idea being that they are going to play at the live arenas, right? [00:06:17] Speaker E: Exactly. [00:06:18] Speaker A: Kind of cool. Yeah, I see it. [00:06:21] Speaker B: So real quick myself, I may interject. It's my last opportunity, so. Yes, Duffy, thank you very much. Excuse me, sir. Host kingdom. [00:06:31] Speaker A: There we go. Everyone get used to it. [00:06:33] Speaker B: Mazelle. We is going to take the whole thing, right? [00:06:38] Speaker E: Just for you. Yes, absolutely. [00:06:40] Speaker B: Okay, good. That's what I needed. Please lie to me. [00:06:42] Speaker E: Absolutely. Actually, they do. They do look like they're gonna be a lot of fun. But there is the three different sections. This time around, we will have, like, after the play in stage, it gets separated into winners and losers, which are two different groups that then play regular best of threes, and then it moves on to playoffs as the third round, and that gets a little bit more muddled. [00:07:02] Speaker A: Isn't like, the top two or something from the bottom half get into playoffs and then, like, the bottom some from. Or at least they play series against. [00:07:10] Speaker E: Yeah, there's a. There's like a whole diagram that's like one of those chain graphs. [00:07:17] Speaker A: Very convoluted. [00:07:18] Speaker E: Yeah. Hopefully I'll have more information on that next time around when we have an episode, so maybe we can do a little spot. [00:07:23] Speaker A: Yeah, we'd love to have an opportunity to kind of just break it down for the folks that are interested, because it's a big change. And oftentimes things like fearless, you know, when they try it out over in the LPL or LDL, as fearless kind of was first introduced, it eventually has been trickling over. So I'm curious if they're experimenting with stuff. But also, they have a lot more teams, so, yeah, they do things differently over there, but they're going to be back June 1, so you can check out the LPL, then LEC returning June 8. So next week, we will already have our LEC preview episode and draft the teams that we'll be covering as members of the podcast. So check out that episode. It'll be a lot of fun to talk LEC, then LCK will be out on June 12 and then lcs June 15. So over the next three weeks, we will have professional League of Legends returning after the MSI break. And honestly, not that long of a break for LPL teams in particular. What was that? Two weeks for them? [00:08:19] Speaker E: Yeah, something like that. [00:08:20] Speaker A: Three. [00:08:20] Speaker E: By the time three. But it's so funny. They did so much in those little times. [00:08:25] Speaker A: They did a lot. But also, big news, global news. The hall of Legends is official, and we have our first inductee, Jax. Are we fans of the fact that an active player in Faker, who we all know deserves to be in the hall of Legends? There's no stipulation about that. But an active player being the first. [00:08:49] Speaker C: One inducted, I think that's fine because it's faker specifically. [00:08:54] Speaker A: Okay. [00:08:55] Speaker C: He's got over a decade long career in a game that's only been around for 14 years. 15 years. [00:09:03] Speaker A: I've seen. I'm seeing some people shake heads. So I just want real quick, because we haven't actually talked about this, there's gonna be a live discussion on the podcast with all of us. Everyone say, I if you think it's okay that he's the first one inducted. [00:09:15] Speaker B: Well, okay, hold on. [00:09:17] Speaker C: That is a thing, though. [00:09:19] Speaker B: Yes. [00:09:19] Speaker A: He should be the first one inducted. How about that? What phrase is that way? [00:09:22] Speaker E: Well, no, sure. [00:09:23] Speaker B: Let's just do it later when he's. [00:09:26] Speaker C: Thinking it's okay for him to be the first one inducted now while he is still a player, instead of them waiting to launch the hall of Legends. [00:09:33] Speaker E: You can go generalize more. You could just say, is it okay for an active player to be inducted into the hall of Legends like that? [00:09:40] Speaker A: I think that's fact. Okay, let's phrase it that way then. Do you think it's fair, okay for an active player to be inducted into the hall of legend? Say aye. [00:09:47] Speaker C: Aye. [00:09:50] Speaker A: Wow. [00:09:51] Speaker B: No, no. I've got a great question. I've got a great question for everyone here. Say nay if you do not watch any live sports. [00:10:01] Speaker A: Nay. Well, does arm wrestling count? Yeah, it counts. It's live. And it was a great experiment of mine. Is that it? Traditional sports have kind of set a precedent for what this kind of thing and award would be and the weight of it and, yeah, it's just not a thing in other american sports. I don't know as much about global, though, and that seems to be the thing I'm seeing on online discussion is it's not as big of a deal, especially in like, Korea, China, even like a little bit of Europe, just because they don't have that same type of precedent. So it kind of feels like it's a small vocal minority that's dissenting with this decision. [00:10:44] Speaker C: I would also argue that we've only ever had one esport prior to League of Legends that has been had this kind of longevity to where this is even a discussion that can be had. [00:10:55] Speaker B: Which is Starcraft, I think counter strikes up there. [00:10:58] Speaker A: I was counter strike as well. [00:11:00] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:01] Speaker A: For longevity purposes at least. [00:11:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:03] Speaker A: Shout out to the quake fans as well. There are dozens of us. Dozens. Dozens. [00:11:07] Speaker C: There's literally a champion in League of Legends named after a quake pro. [00:11:12] Speaker B: Yeah, it's true fact. [00:11:15] Speaker A: Kind of fucking wild. [00:11:15] Speaker C: This is just absolutely blank. So for those who don't know, Dennis Fong, thresh is probably the most famous quake player ever to live. [00:11:26] Speaker A: Was. [00:11:27] Speaker C: That is why the champion is named thresh. [00:11:31] Speaker A: He won the. The car, right? [00:11:32] Speaker C: Yeah. In the Rolling Stone, Carmax, Cadillac or whatever. It was adequate. Ferrari, I think it was. [00:11:41] Speaker A: And a Rolling Stones year subscription. Don't forget that part. Yeah. [00:11:44] Speaker B: Wow. A year subscription to the Rolling Stones magazine. [00:11:48] Speaker A: I think it was a year. [00:11:49] Speaker B: No, year's way funnier. [00:11:54] Speaker C: But yeah. Like. Okay, I'll add counter strike. So Starcraft, counter strike, and league and Dota are the only esports that have existed long enough for us to even have this. [00:12:06] Speaker B: And Warcraft three. [00:12:08] Speaker C: No. [00:12:09] Speaker A: Okay. [00:12:09] Speaker B: We can fires. [00:12:11] Speaker A: We could keep talking about other esports. We're talking about our esport. And we'd love to hear your thoughts in the community discord as well. Let us know if you think it was a good call or a bad call. Either way, I think it's. I have no problem with Faker being the first one. I think he should be the first one. And I think riot, this is just my tinfoil ag conspiracy. Absolutely thought he would have retired already and have been wanting the hall of legends for at least five years and been planning it out and saying faker plea. When are you just going to say goodbye so we can do this? Never mind. We want the money now. We're just going to do it without you. [00:12:47] Speaker C: It's been about 15 years since this Game was Available to the public to play. Open beta was in 2009, so 15 years also feels like a good milestone time to do this to begin with. [00:13:01] Speaker A: True. [00:13:01] Speaker C: And you literally cannot introduce the hall of Legends without Faker being the first inductee. I literally don't think you can. There's no player in the history of this game playing currently or otherwise, who would be put in before faker. [00:13:20] Speaker A: Yeah. The gap between Faker and the next highest legend is not particularly exactly, but. [00:13:26] Speaker E: I think that's where you take the L for just saying when he fires. Absolutely right. [00:13:31] Speaker C: And here's the argument that would make. [00:13:33] Speaker A: It retirement even more important. [00:13:35] Speaker C: Here's the argument you could make for why this is the wrong time is the stuff that they're doing along with this. A lot of people are perceiving as really cash grabby. Part of what you can do with this hall of legends thing that they're doing is there is a $500 cosmetic bundle for fakers. [00:13:57] Speaker A: Re at the high end. There are much cheaper, or I say cheaper. 20 is still the cheapest, which is the Leblanc one. But, like, yeah, people are looking at the high end. That is not for everybody. Don't be like, oh, they're trying to sell me a $500 thing. They're selling the whales and the big streamers that, so they can show it off to their followers and stuff. [00:14:17] Speaker B: But you don't need to own everything in legal legends. [00:14:22] Speaker A: You don't need to drop $500. Cool. What if I want to own this? [00:14:28] Speaker B: That's fair. Give it to Ben. [00:14:31] Speaker E: The only thing I'll push back on is it, like, in. It's kind of the devil on the shoulder argument is like, they definitely are marketing it as, like, if you do not get in on this, you are not not part of, like, this whole celebration thing. [00:14:46] Speaker C: Oh, for sure. [00:14:47] Speaker E: I think that's kind of lame. [00:14:49] Speaker C: They're definitely leaning into FoMO, a big. [00:14:51] Speaker E: Source of joy for everybody. Right. And it shouldn't be an exclusive thing to celebrate this guy's accomplishments, but I don't know. Yeah, that's just, that's just an argument in point there. [00:15:01] Speaker A: I feel like they would make more money if they sold the other stuff that came in the big bundle individually as well. Like, if they just, you could just buy, like, the broccoli emote and stuff. Probably actually make more. Yeah. [00:15:12] Speaker C: Yeah, Jack, they're definitely leaning into FOMO with this. It is all limited time stuff. I do want to, however, give them some credit that the pass for the event, the event pass is a significantly better value than event passes have been. Normally, for an event pass, you get four orbs and a track that gives you 125 mythic essence and a few other minor things. This time around, you get six orbs, 125 mythic essence, 14 icons, four different skins, a ward, a banner, and the broccoli baron title. [00:15:47] Speaker B: And I heard you get a partridge in a pear tree. But don't quote me on that. [00:15:51] Speaker C: So that's the one that it's 2000 riot points, like 1950 riot points. So about $20 ish. This is the thing for us plebs. If we want to buy into the event, that is what we're supposed to be buying. [00:16:05] Speaker A: Yeah. And there's still cool stuff in there, so thanks for kind of highlighting that. And that's what I wanted to kind of end it on, is there's big stuff to spend if you're a whale and you have the income if you don't. There's still stuff that you can participate with. So hopefully you don't feel left out of celebrating Faker's induction. Bit of somber news as well this week. Unfortunately, this is not a player I was very familiar with since it was before my time watching, but I'll let Duffy, if you want to talk about, or Jackson, anybody who's been around to watch Zuna, a former pro player who passed away. [00:16:37] Speaker B: So Zuna was a actually played two roles professionally in League of Legends. Specifically, he was an ad carry for what was team Vulcan, which eventually became XDG, one of the worst professional team names we've ever had. And if you type XDG in all caps, which is how it was presented, and look at it sideways, it looks like a man conducting a lewd act on himself. So just really a poorly thought out organization from beginning to end. It's incredible, X. But this in season, was it. Three was the beginning of them. Jax, it's three, four, and five, right? [00:17:16] Speaker C: Yeah, I remember him from the inaugural season of the LCS. [00:17:20] Speaker B: LCS. That's what I thought. So team Vulcan was one of the. It was a new in season three that surprisingly, out of nowhere, actually pushed cloud nine, which was the other semi new, just been elevated, but were basically a team of five incredible players, top of their class, and somehow XDG would, at the time, Vulcan would get the better of them every now and then. Still didn't quite stack up to C nine's roster, which was the old sneaky Meteos. High balls and lemonation. Thank you. With a big old nod there. This team was really good, and Zuna was considered the heart and soul of this team. He was the go getter. I believe this team ended up with ex Smithy at one point as well. But Zuna is unfortunately known for one of the earliest instances of a player being named or a move being named after a player. And that move was the Tristana rocket jump into the enemy team, into instant green or gray screen that was a Zuna. [00:18:26] Speaker C: That was the rosters that Zuna was on. And yes, Smithy was the jungler for basically Zuna's entire LCS career, except he also played with man cloud. [00:18:37] Speaker B: Yep. Who was an incredible mid laner for about one season. [00:18:40] Speaker C: Yep. Bloodwater. [00:18:42] Speaker B: Mm hmm. Fantastic Sona support. [00:18:44] Speaker C: And then psycho Sid and Benny, which. [00:18:48] Speaker B: Yeah, we don't talk about them. [00:18:49] Speaker C: And the time that exmithy was not his jungler was because Zuna also played jungle. [00:18:55] Speaker E: You play. [00:18:55] Speaker B: You swapped a jungle for a bit. [00:18:56] Speaker A: Amazing. [00:18:57] Speaker B: XDG was really struggling at that time, but it was built. It was a team built, clearly around Zuna. And Zuna just slotted into the roles where he thought he was going to be most effective. And, jax, do you know what Zuna did afterwards? [00:19:09] Speaker C: I sure do. That's what I was. [00:19:10] Speaker B: Let's go, baby. [00:19:12] Speaker C: After his LCS career, Zuna went on to become a heroes of the Storm professional player for four years. [00:19:19] Speaker B: What did he do? [00:19:21] Speaker C: What did he do that I don't know because I'm not familiar with. [00:19:25] Speaker D: I think he was a. He was like an Illidan player. [00:19:28] Speaker E: Let's go. [00:19:30] Speaker D: If I remember when I played against him, I thought he played Illidan. [00:19:33] Speaker B: So I believe he was an Illidan player. But do you all, like. He was good. [00:19:39] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:40] Speaker B: Like, he came in first at Dreamhack all stars. Yeah. No, he was a. He was a very good player in here. The storm. [00:19:46] Speaker A: So what I'm saying is that the original trickle down mechanics. Yes, yes. Actually lead to Heroes of the Storm and then rich brought the mechanics back and now we've lost them. [00:19:58] Speaker C: Yes. [00:19:59] Speaker B: Correct. [00:19:59] Speaker A: Okay. [00:20:00] Speaker B: It's like the championship belt. You know, where I was sometimes. Track that. [00:20:03] Speaker A: Yep. [00:20:04] Speaker B: Where did it end? [00:20:05] Speaker A: Sometimes it's a smackdown. [00:20:07] Speaker B: I don't know what any of these words mean and I'm uncomfortable, which is why I'm leaving the show. [00:20:11] Speaker A: He played on some notable orgs like. [00:20:13] Speaker F: Cloud nine and tempo Storm and some also wonderful names. Bob Ross fan club and old gods. [00:20:19] Speaker B: Yeah, Bob Ross. [00:20:20] Speaker A: I am already a fan of Bob Ross fan club. [00:20:22] Speaker C: Right. [00:20:23] Speaker A: Sign me up for that. I hope they do like painting after the games, during the interviews and stuff. That'd be great. But yeah, for anybody who was old enough to remember Zuna or maybe heard about Zuna through, hears of the storm, sad to hear of his passing, so community will be mourning him. One of the kind of founding players of League of Legends. [00:20:40] Speaker C: Pour one out for Zuna. [00:20:42] Speaker A: Pour one out for Zuna. [00:20:43] Speaker E: Zero seven King. [00:20:45] Speaker A: Other Roster news happening? Or I guess getting into roster news since we haven't covered too much of that. First off in the LCS, Dignitas officially now signs zven ad carry. This was rumored for a while, is official and they also last minute parted ways with Exu. He had a long post on Twitter. Very unfortunate. Basically was saying I was told two weeks ago I would have a position by the GM and the coach and now I do not. It has not been confirmed who's coming in. Expectation is Speaka at least I don't think we've seen a confirmation or like a team post or anything like that. [00:21:21] Speaker F: No official confirmation, but everything's rumored that it's going to be speaka. [00:21:25] Speaker A: Yeah, everything's pointing to speak. If you're going to drop ex you you shouldn't do it for anybody that wouldn't be speaka. So feels better man. It feels so bad, dude. Like the if you look at just the last 365 days as a player and like imagine being like a prospective high schooler that wants to go pro in league of Legends you just saw last year the players almost walk out due to contract shit going on and then two teams just disappear. So there's 20 or ten less jobs in the scene, plus all the academy jobs going away. And now still situations like this are happening. It's, it's grim. So hard goes out to the players. [00:21:59] Speaker E: Is the timing like. Yeah, it's literally he cannot find another team and it's so unfortunate. Like if he does it'll be a miracle. But when and he's an upgrade away from doing scrims and you're told that you're not, you're like, all right, cool. I guess so. Yeah. [00:22:19] Speaker B: It just. He's a clear upgrade, right? Like there are at least three teams I can think of where ex you would be the better choice for all three of them. And they just. Even if they wanted to, even if they made smart choices, they're not there. [00:22:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:34] Speaker B: Shopify, rebellion, immortals and dignitas again. [00:22:40] Speaker A: So I hope x two sticks around. I really hope he's able to find something to do for summer and into next year. I know that personally for him with family stuff, it's been a fight to convince that yes, he can make it pro to begin with and he had finally gotten there and now this happens. So I hope we still have him going into summer and next year and that at least an NACL team is able to pick him up or something, which would then feel bad for their rosters because a lot of those are also getting locked here. But don't want to lose players like him. So also in Na, though, Tomo landed on disguised NACL team. So if you're a fan of disguised toast, he does still operate a team in the NACL, a challenger team in North America. So Tomo, who got dropped from dig for his venom, will be playing still in NACL. Over in Lec, though, SK gaming rumored. Oh, sorry, pickle. Looks like you had something to hop in with. [00:23:31] Speaker F: I was gonna say you mentioned Nacl. I don't know if I've ever mentioned cloud nine actually partnered with the new uprising team that came out of qualifications with Blue Water league. They partnered up. [00:23:43] Speaker A: It's always ambiguous what that means when an LCS team says they partner up with these tier two teams, but hopeful that it means more resources for the teams, more communication and scouting between then LCS orgs and these teams, and being able to try out players and then have exclusive, maybe not exclusive, but more direct communication with the players to get them moved up to LCS. [00:24:05] Speaker F: It sounded like what it was is they're getting access to c nine coaching, help with tryouts and all that sort of thing. [00:24:12] Speaker A: Energy also partnered with Supernova. So other teams have done this in the past, and they even just did their charity stream this last weekend, which was pretty fun. Me and Mizzelle got to be a part of that. So. Yeah, so that's stuff over here in the LCS. Unless anything has happened between when we started recording or before the episode comes out over in the LEC, SK Gaming. Remember that Rahel and Luan from Korea have signed till the end of 2025. I know nothing about these players. I haven't really looked into the community sentiment other than just initial reactions of oof. We're importing players over in the LEC, which seems to just continue to be a trend over there. Since NA budgets have gone down for LCS teams, it seems like Lec teams are starting to get more and more of the prospects coming out of Korea these days. Duffy? [00:24:58] Speaker B: Yeah. So one of the reasons you may not have heard of one of these players is Bickle. Do you know what country SK Gaming is based in? [00:25:07] Speaker F: I believe they're based in Germany, am I right? [00:25:10] Speaker B: That's correct. That would be correct. The support player, Luan, he originally went by two letters. That was. [00:25:19] Speaker F: His letters happen to have been the same letter. [00:25:23] Speaker B: Yes. [00:25:24] Speaker F: Happening twice. That may have a not so happy history with the country they are participating in. [00:25:30] Speaker B: Yes. In fact, the letters hh should not ever appear in the country of Germany because it is shorthand for hail Hitler, which is not allowed at all, or any reference to in the country of Germany. So the player, Lujan, had to completely name change specifically so that he could go play in the LEC. [00:25:51] Speaker A: I announced comments on the post. Yep. [00:25:55] Speaker B: I'm sure this was completely unintentional because there's no reason for a korean player to have any idea about any of this. But just extremely funny that this is the sort of situation that would pop up also, who the fuck are these guys? Badger. Who are these? [00:26:11] Speaker D: Hall is the former ad carry for Don Juan. Challengers, 20 years old, couple pennant kills. Decent prospect, maybe like Noah levels potentially in some time. But they only signed. Are. Are these the two that only signed six month contracts? [00:26:28] Speaker A: No. 2025. [00:26:30] Speaker D: That's Connor. Okay, so, yeah, maybe by, like, spring of next year, he could be, like, a NOAA level, like, player, notoriety wise, in Europe. The other guy, no clue. [00:26:44] Speaker B: No clue. [00:26:45] Speaker D: I'm gonna be honest. I mean, I could look at his. His wiki. Let me. Let me do some research real fast. But he was. [00:26:54] Speaker F: Let me see. [00:26:55] Speaker A: I love this. [00:26:56] Speaker F: Live long, shim academy. [00:26:59] Speaker B: This is how it works. [00:27:00] Speaker A: This is how it works. [00:27:00] Speaker D: This is how it works. [00:27:01] Speaker A: And if anybody is listening along right now, yelling, saying, I know information about these players that these guys do not come check out the community discord. Let us know in there what we're missing, but what information do we find? [00:27:13] Speaker B: So, I'm sorry. He was the support player for Nong Shim Red Force Challengers team the academy. What position did Nong Shim Red Force end the regular season in? [00:27:25] Speaker F: The main team or the Challengers team? [00:27:27] Speaker B: The main team. [00:27:30] Speaker A: A. [00:27:32] Speaker B: So the player wasn't good enough to make the 8th place LCK team, and he's being imported to SK Gaming. [00:27:42] Speaker F: Hey, he finished third in playoffs first. [00:27:45] Speaker D: They finished third in challengers playoffs, fourth in the regular season, losing to Damwon Kia Challengers. [00:27:52] Speaker B: So real promising. I love it. [00:27:55] Speaker A: Hey. [00:27:55] Speaker B: Okay. [00:27:56] Speaker A: Very excited for him. I mean, anytime this happens to players, it's up to them to prove their metal, what their worth is on the. On the rift. But it is always kind of a head scratch when it's like, yeah, we don't know much about these players, so a lot of what we learn will be in that week one, which is a little over a week from now. Yeah. [00:28:13] Speaker B: My problem with it is for EU especially, is. Holy shit. There's such a robust ecosystem. [00:28:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:19] Speaker B: My God, EU Masters is incredible. And it would kill for this type of pipeline. And why are we importing? [00:28:27] Speaker E: Oh, you better bet if it was in an a, we still be importing. [00:28:30] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, but, like, whatever. Na's dumb, okay? We already know Na makes terrible decisions. [00:28:36] Speaker A: Why is he smarter than Na? What's going on? Don't be that. [00:28:40] Speaker B: Don't copy that from us. [00:28:41] Speaker A: You just watched us destroy our region over the last ten years. [00:28:45] Speaker B: Yeah, learn from us. [00:28:47] Speaker A: Gave a blue shit, guys. [00:28:50] Speaker B: We're stupid, Lec. We are dumb as fucking fuck. Don't do what we did. [00:28:56] Speaker E: It's not a blueprint. [00:28:57] Speaker A: I know. We beat you at worlds. Come on, man. [00:28:59] Speaker B: Yeah, that's just CLG, baby. Nothing makes sense with them. [00:29:04] Speaker A: But, yeah. So we'll keep our eyes on Lec roster news going into next week as well. Next week's gonna be a big LEC episode, so we'll be catching up all the rosters and kind of what to expect going into Lec summer split. But Mazelle, there's also been a couple things over in the LPL. Sides want to catch us up on some of the fun roster moves there. [00:29:21] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, there's not been many fun roster moves. I think there's been some good call ups and stuff from LDL, but what I. There's too many teams to go through. Every single one. There's 17 teams. [00:29:31] Speaker A: Yep. [00:29:31] Speaker E: The biggest thing I wanted to say, what I find really cool is that, like, a majority of the top contending rosters are going with the same rosters again, which I think is really, really cool. And specifically for top esports, they brought in Chie, who has been rumored to be positional coaching cream, which I think can really help with a lot of the struggles that top esports found. So it's really cool just to see that a lot of LPL teams are running it back, which is not always the case. [00:30:03] Speaker F: We talk about one team that's not necessarily running it back. Weibo actually brought in a new top jungle with breathe and Tarazan to try make big changes to their roster. [00:30:13] Speaker B: Let's go. [00:30:14] Speaker E: The king of the jungle is back. [00:30:16] Speaker A: I like it. [00:30:17] Speaker B: Cool. [00:30:18] Speaker A: Cool. All right, well, we'll keep our eyes also an LPL specifically, since that one's gonna be starting up this week. So if you're looking for pro games to watch, you will be able to watch some this weekend. Just maybe check the vods. Unless you like to be like Mazelle and destroy your sleep schedule. Although he gets paid for, so that's different. All right, that's it for roster news and news overall this week, which means that Bickle, I've already said it a few times, but if people really want to give us their opinion or just join in on the discussion with folks that are fans and passionate about the scene that they are passionate about. Where can they do so? [00:30:51] Speaker F: Yeah, so what they can do is click the link down in the description of this podcast and come join the Community discord. We got a lot of fun things going on with the fact that the lcs and the LEC are starting back up. We're gonna have pickems and fantasy happening again. I'm gonna guess we've got some forums and surveys coming out to see opinions on that. We've just recently started community game nights back up again. We got a lot of things going on. Five stacks in league arena, in houses. We're doing some strategy games. If there's something you want to see happen, come make a post about it. I guarantee you'll find a couple people that want to join you on the adventure. Duffy, you got something going on? [00:31:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I just want to point out game nights Thursday night. I thought I wasn't going to make it this week, but I think I'm going to be able to. So aim for Thursdays and Saturday evenings. Those are our goals. So if you're interested in playing anything hell divers to League of Legends. I don't know. That'd be crazy. Wild rift. I don't know if I could go. Okay, Legends of Runeterra, helldivers two, Yuki Diablo four. Okay, I don't know what he just. [00:31:48] Speaker A: Said, but my challenge. [00:31:51] Speaker B: Just saying I'm shocked. Shocked and surprised. I watch your streams. Let me tell you. It is riveting gameplay. [00:31:59] Speaker A: It's great. I did hit Master, so now we're just kind of having fun with it. But yes, you can play all kinds of different games and we will have community game nights going on. Thanks, Duffy, for still kind of spearheading that even though you hate us and are leaving the show forever. [00:32:13] Speaker B: Hey, it's true. [00:32:14] Speaker A: Yep. Yep. Also shout out to the patrons over at Patreon that help keep the show going, specifically the audio quality, and also get us to do all kinds of random stuff on the podcast, specifically during our bullshittery episodes, which is about anywhere from like ten to 20 minutes before we actually go live, where we just kind of hang out and shoot the shit. So thanks for supporting the pod. We love you. But with all that said, that's the intro, that's the news, that's everything we normally do. So let's do something that we don't normally do, which is celebrate a certain member of the pod. Duffy, we are going to miss you. But we got you for one last episode, which means I get one more opportunity to torture you in a game show that I have devised from one fan to another specifically for you to win. If you lose this, I think you lose all street credibility, because we are going to play a game. Everybody at home, if you listen to the end of our episodes, you might have heard this sound before. Oh, yes, daddy. And that is because that is a sound that is loaded into something called a sound board that I have a physical copy of, and I hit that button at the end of every episode. Now, funnily enough, I can add any sound that I want. Duffy, do you want me to play any other sounds? [00:33:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I want you to pick a sound at random. [00:33:37] Speaker A: Okay. [00:33:37] Speaker B: Porn. [00:33:38] Speaker A: How about that? So I can play any sound that I have loaded into my sound board, and it'll go through to our recording software. You, the listeners, can hear. Everybody in the call with me can hear. So what I did is I went through and I compiled eight different audio clips that are samples from historical CLG games throughout history. Now, we all know Duffy, one of, if not the biggest CLG fan there is. So we're going to test his medal along with everybody else on the show. So I'm going to play a game together where I will play 5 seconds of audio. After that 5 seconds, everybody on the show has the choice. They can try and dm me the year that the audio sample comes from, the tournament that the audio sample comes from, and who the opponent CLG was against in the audio sample. They don't have to. After 5 seconds, they can also wait because then I will play the full clip, which will be anywhere from 15 to 30 seconds. After that, everyone gets another chance to submit their answers. Now, you get one point for every correct answer. If you submitted your answers after the 5 seconds instead of the 30, you double your points. Also, if you submitted your answers after the 5 seconds, but then after the full 30, you realize you were wrong about something, you want to change it, you can, but then you get half points. I'll be keeping track. You don't get negative points for having a wrong answer. So just throw something in. Even if you don't know what's going on. Just throw in a random opponent in like a year and something. Maybe you'll get some. Some random points just by guessing correctly. What questions do people have before you get going? Or is everyone good to go? [00:35:09] Speaker B: Let's do it. [00:35:11] Speaker A: Feeling good? Feeling ready? All right. So I started off with a softball. If Duffy is going to get this one I would put money on that. But if other people are not able to get this one, I'll be minorly disappointed. Popped around, knocked back now by buster shot. There's enough hints in there. There's enough hints in there. And when I say, get this one, I mean, by the end of the full clip, the first 5 seconds is always gonna be a little harder, but by the end of the full clip, everyone should be able to have it. [00:35:44] Speaker D: So can you play the clip? [00:35:45] Speaker A: If you can answer it within the first 5 seconds, dm it to me right now. Everybody listening along at home, congratulations. If you already know what that one. [00:35:52] Speaker D: Was, can you play the clip again? [00:35:54] Speaker A: The 5 seconds? [00:35:55] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:35:56] Speaker A: All right. [00:35:56] Speaker D: Can you play it again? [00:35:57] Speaker A: Do I want to. Do I want to start that now? Because if I do that now, we're going to have to do that all the time. All right, fine. Just for now by Buster shot. Okay, so you hear a couple player names, you hear a couple abilities, you might be able to piece together a historical ClG moment where all those things came together. Okay. All right, we're already getting a couple. DM's coming through. I'm going to give everyone five more seconds to throw their answers. Three, two, one. Okay, now we will play the full clip shot. Has Ga gets popped around, knocked back now by Buster shot as well. Bjergsen is low, gets it up, but Qs is out. He's still gonna tag in for the reset. Yellow starshot. He's going for the lead stick save. Thank you, sada. All right, who can get it? I need to see everybody light up the DM's now. And I will say two people that submitted early answers got it right, so well done to those two. Now, let's take another look here. [00:37:05] Speaker B: Duffy, no, I hit the wrong one. [00:37:08] Speaker A: Duffy, no. Game show. Duffy, no. [00:37:15] Speaker E: Happy birthday. [00:37:17] Speaker A: I cannot believe it. Also, Mazelle fanatic is not an Na team. I don't know what this. All right, these are some beautiful answers, everybody. We're doing great. [00:37:31] Speaker C: I want to give Mazel a little bit of credit, because my guess on the five second bit was an international competition when Sven Scarren was still playing in Europe. [00:37:39] Speaker E: Dude, I literally just talked to. So as yesterday or the other day when I was on the charity, but he was telling me about his memory of fnatic in in Na when they were playing. And that's all I could think about. [00:37:50] Speaker A: So, fair enough. That that was a great series, too, but, okay. The correct answer is, of course, 2016 spring finals, CLG versus TSM. The Stixe Tristana rage blade resets the correct answers from 5 seconds. Badger and Hawk both got full six points. So congratulations to both of you. Bickle, you did get the full three points. Answering after the full clip was played, Mazelle, unfortunately, was zero points. Start off strong. Jackson Duffy with one point. Duffy answered the wrong year and the wrong tournament. Because, of course, if it's the wrong year, you're probably going to have the wrong tournament anyway. [00:38:33] Speaker F: Disappointed? [00:38:34] Speaker A: I got one. That's all I need. And you're already on the board. Points on the board. Okay, is everyone ready for the second one? [00:38:42] Speaker C: I don't have zero points. I thought I was going to have. [00:38:45] Speaker B: Zero points as a defense. I. Immediately before you started it, I put in 2015 summer finals versus ts. [00:38:55] Speaker C: That's what. [00:38:56] Speaker B: That's exactly what it was gonna be. [00:38:58] Speaker A: The first one. [00:38:59] Speaker B: Get it right before you even done anything. Yeah. The very first one was like, oh, okay, he's saying I'm gonna know it. It's this one right here. Hit the button. We're good. [00:39:06] Speaker C: That was my guess. [00:39:09] Speaker B: I was too fast. [00:39:11] Speaker A: Well, it should have given it away. I don't think seven Scarren was on TSM in 2015. [00:39:15] Speaker B: Again, I had already noticed. [00:39:27] Speaker C: Kangas, you assumed that we paid attention to TSM's rosters well enough to know what year Sven Scaron was. [00:39:32] Speaker B: I did. I do. I probably did not join till 2016. So if I had heard the clip, I would have known that. [00:39:39] Speaker A: Yep. All right, well, regardless, here's the second clip. Duffy, do you already have your second guess right now? I've learned finals versus ESM for all of your answers. [00:39:48] Speaker B: I've learned my lesson. [00:39:49] Speaker A: Okay, cool. [00:39:50] Speaker B: I have not. I've already worked for. [00:39:51] Speaker A: Well, funnily enough, you had TSM versus TSM, so you did point further. [00:39:55] Speaker B: It was the same team. It worked out well. [00:39:57] Speaker A: All right, all right, here's the next clip. [00:39:59] Speaker B: Piglet is definitely in hyper carry mode. [00:40:01] Speaker A: Right now, but Darshan wants to kill him. I just realized that was one that I had played as the sample one. So we already know the answer to that one. So we're not going to do that one. Just kidding. We'll do it for the listeners then. All right, listeners for points for the hosts. I'll play it for the listeners. I already played this one for the hosts before we went live. But here's for the listeners. If you can guess it. 1st 5 seconds. Again, Piglet is definitely in hyper carry mode right now, but Darshan wants to kill him right now. If you know what it is, you can shout it out. To whoever's in the room next to you. Mmm. [00:40:33] Speaker B: Okay. [00:40:34] Speaker A: And now play the rest of the clip. [00:40:35] Speaker B: Piglet is definitely in hyper carry mode. [00:40:36] Speaker A: Right now, but Darshan wants to kill him. That's a little ambitious. He only thought it was one. He had to have only thought it was one. TP. [00:40:48] Speaker B: Yeah, what a great fucking half a year for that was not. Talk about the second half of the year, specifically. World championship. Yeah. [00:40:59] Speaker D: Okay, somebody remind me. [00:41:07] Speaker A: Okay, is everyone ready for the actual. [00:41:10] Speaker C: Listeners what it was so they know whether they got it? [00:41:12] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, sorry. That was of course, 2016, spring playoffs, CLG versus team liquid. [00:41:20] Speaker B: Game five. [00:41:21] Speaker A: Game five, two to two, the game or series ending play that got CLG to the finals where they went five games against TSM as well. TSM had to play against Immortals on the other side of that semi finals bracket, which they were definitely the scarier team, which was that the lucian top? [00:41:38] Speaker C: Is that where the lucian. [00:41:39] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, that was the lucian top. [00:41:41] Speaker B: Yes. [00:41:41] Speaker C: Okay. [00:41:42] Speaker A: All right, cool. Now the next one for us. See if they can contest this dragon. They absolutely have to, but it is going so low already. You have to go hard. Cogs have to force it. Getting a little bit harder. Right. Can anybody think? I think I know. Very famous moment where that was the pressure point for CLG. [00:42:03] Speaker B: Yeah, it happens all the fucking time. It's the goddamn worst. I hate it. [00:42:10] Speaker A: Wait, Steve, do I lose anything if I guess wrong in the first half and then I get it right in the second half? [00:42:17] Speaker F: Yes. [00:42:18] Speaker A: If you change your answer for the second half, you get half points then. Okay, as opposed to if I just listened for the second half then. Yeah, if you just listen to the second half then you would get the full normal points. You just double your points if you get in the first five second clip, you get normal points if it's after the full clip and then you get half points if you change your answer between the five. I'm gonna bide my time. Okay? Yeah. Nobody has to suspicion. I have a suspicion. All right then in three, two, one. See if they can contest this dragon. They absolutely have to. But it is going so low already. They have to go hard. Cogs have to force. They have no get the bind on Mata. Can they do it? Lambs just bite, Baron. A dragon does get mata. The dragon goes down. It's secured by Xmithi. That is the first one tonight. Can they do it? Can you believe? Do you have the faith? Yeah, that was back when casting was raw, man. That was. Of course I won't give it away, but I'll add this part. I never doubted him. I never doubted them. Cause that's one of my favorite shackles of all time right there. Which came a little bit later, but the historical context, of course, being pretty stressful. Dragon moment. So let's take a look at the answers that everyone has. Duffy has changed his answer twice. [00:43:34] Speaker B: Wait, only once? Only once. [00:43:35] Speaker A: Wait, what? Okay, I don't even know. None of these are right. Wait, I'm trying to. Hang on. I haven't submitted my answer. So you want me to go with your last one? Cause you did answer after the 5 seconds. This would be half points. [00:43:50] Speaker B: Yes. I didn't know. I literally guessed. [00:43:52] Speaker A: Okay, Duffy. [00:43:54] Speaker C: Duffy. [00:43:54] Speaker A: I designed this for you to win. [00:43:57] Speaker C: Duffy's gonna lose the game. Designed for him. [00:43:59] Speaker B: I was set up to win this game. And so the way for me to win is to lose. [00:44:05] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. Well, I am seeing a couple of correct ones in here. A couple that are mostly correct. And I think there's a general trend in who's getting the correct ones. [00:44:18] Speaker B: See, I don't fucking know. You know? [00:44:23] Speaker A: You got a point. You got a point. [00:44:25] Speaker E: Let's go. [00:44:26] Speaker A: Wait, you got two points. No, no, only one. Only one. [00:44:28] Speaker E: Okay, let's go. [00:44:31] Speaker A: No. Unfortunately, hog gets a big old goose egg. So the answer is of course 2016 MSI ClG versus Rng, who are undefeated in the group stage at that point. And CLG was the only one to give them a loss in the group stage, really hyping up their prospects, then going into playoffs where they beat Flash Wolves and then got swiftly three zeroed by or SKT in the finals. But that moment was awesome and led to one of the best Kobe calls of all time. And a great moment for CLG fans. [00:45:05] Speaker C: Also, one of the only two times Na has ever made a finals in an international event that actually included the east. [00:45:13] Speaker A: And the first time, the first time it ever happened, TM like, was able to do it again a few years later. [00:45:17] Speaker C: But I suppose if you count iems, they've actually won iems against eastern teams, but I suppose. [00:45:24] Speaker A: But shout out to Bickle and Badger, who both got that one correct with a full three points. Everybody else got one point except for Hawk, who unfortunately did not pick up one on that. That's tough. That's really tough. That's tough. Okay, well, here we go. Next one. [00:45:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:45:41] Speaker A: Both of these supports have been very active. Both less boy and Afro move with Con. I'll say this one's going to be hard. This one's probably the hardest from the first 5 seconds to get correct question. [00:45:55] Speaker C: If we guess early, just part of it and just leave out the rest because we don't fucking know, do we? [00:46:02] Speaker A: Yeah, you would still double the ones that you get correct. Yeah. So if you know, like the year or you know the opponent, you can just throw that in. Cause it's going to guarantee you at least like those two points if you can get those ones right. Now. This one's tough though, I will admit. Okay, we got a few coming in. I'm gonna give everyone five more seconds. Three, two. [00:46:23] Speaker D: Wait, hold on. [00:46:24] Speaker A: 1000. Okay. All right, he's still typing, Badger. He's really tight. Really typing. [00:46:34] Speaker B: All right, here we go. [00:46:35] Speaker A: Now we're gonna play the rest of the clip. But yeah, both of these supports have been very active. Both lesboy and Afro move with constant roaming here. Now they're even bringing Smithy in tow. Fuck. [00:46:48] Speaker B: Oh, six mithy. I'm like, God damn it. [00:46:51] Speaker A: First blood for CLG. That'll come up shortly, I hope are able to grab it. [00:46:56] Speaker B: We will get this repaired as soon. [00:46:57] Speaker A: As possible for you in house on the screens. That was a moment where the broadcast completely broke during the live finals in front of a huge audience in a very impactful game and series. So there's a few more hints for everybody. Let's take a look at who threw them in right at the beginning. Ben. Unfortunate. So I see the first one that you sent was after the 5 seconds, right? Yeah, the first message was after the 5 seconds and then I sent the split in tournament after the full thing. All right, all right. You saying unfortunate makes me sound feel like I'm just completely wrong. Well, if you. After the full one comes, you change any of your answer or add to it, then it is half points. Sorry if I didn't communicate that. So I'm just going to give you the two points for having at least the part of the initial one correct. Wait, wait, wait. Hang on, hang on, hang on. The question that was asked right before this, this started is if you submitted part of your answer before the 30 seconds, right before the full clip, you would get the double points for that. For that. But then if you change any of your question later, and by change I also mean add parts to it later, then you get the half points instead. Oh, okay. So if you only know like one third of the answer at the beginning for the 5 seconds, you can give that one third answer for the double points, but then you can't give additional information later. I see. Sorry if that was. I misunderstood. That wasn't clear. Okay, you still got the two points, though. Cool. Again, it's a very silly. I'll take two points. We got two points, baby. Yeah. Okay. Jax, I'll also give you two points for yours for getting part of the information correct there, Mazelle. [00:48:45] Speaker B: I'm here to make you just putting in, like, chinese teams every time. That's right. [00:48:51] Speaker A: Pretty much. Pretty much. Badger, do you want to take the initial four points you would get or the half points, which would put you down to two? [00:49:01] Speaker D: I'll just take the four. [00:49:02] Speaker A: How about that? [00:49:03] Speaker D: Yeah, I just got the year wrong. I thought so. That's not bad. [00:49:08] Speaker A: You're good. [00:49:08] Speaker D: You're good. [00:49:10] Speaker A: And Bickle, did I get yours in here? I don't know if I got yours for this one. [00:49:17] Speaker F: Okay, I just sent it. I'm throwing a shot in the dark. [00:49:22] Speaker A: Ooh, close. Very close. From Bickle. Cool. [00:49:27] Speaker F: Oh, shit. It's summer, isn't it? [00:49:28] Speaker A: And Duffy. What did you say? Damn it. Oh, Duffy got it this time. [00:49:32] Speaker B: Yeah, I fucking know this one. [00:49:34] Speaker A: Hell, yeah. All right. [00:49:35] Speaker B: I remember singing. [00:49:37] Speaker A: The answer was 2015 summer finals, CLG versus TSM. I picked a part of the broadcast. It won't be so obvious to get that. You just know the players present. But that was a pretty historic moment during a live finals for the whole game to lag and broadcast to just cut off. So I thought if anybody was actually tuning in or remembered that that would be a pretty dead giveaway. Lust Boy was still playing in 2015. [00:50:02] Speaker C: Right now, I guess 2014, because I was like, I don't think Lust Boy was still there by the time that it was the CLG TSA. [00:50:09] Speaker B: But you have to remember how good was 2014 CLG? And the answer is not very right. [00:50:18] Speaker C: I knew lust boy was TSM, and I was like, I don't think he was playing by the time that they were actually beating TSM. So I assumed this was going to be an iconic moment where they lost. [00:50:30] Speaker A: Okay. No, we only put CLG bangers on here. Duffy with six points that round, badger with four jacks, Beckle with two, hawk with two as well. And Mazelle, unfortunately, without points for that round. [00:50:43] Speaker E: Excuse me, I got one of the teams right in the versus, so I think I should get, like, half a point. [00:50:49] Speaker B: Did you? [00:50:50] Speaker A: He probably says. [00:50:53] Speaker E: Hey, I don't make the rules here, canvas. I don't. [00:50:57] Speaker A: Yeah, I make the rules. Yeah, you do. All right. All right. Next round, next round. [00:51:04] Speaker E: Hold on, we've. [00:51:05] Speaker A: Oh, do we lose nothing? [00:51:06] Speaker F: Man of the hour. [00:51:07] Speaker A: We might have lost. [00:51:08] Speaker E: Oh, no. [00:51:09] Speaker A: He is looking rather pensively frozen off. [00:51:12] Speaker E: Into the distance because he didn't have. [00:51:15] Speaker A: He crashed the blanket. You're right. What do you call that one again? A bagooska. [00:51:21] Speaker E: Babushka. [00:51:22] Speaker A: Babushka. Bagooska is the yugioh card that I keep confusing it with. You're right. All right, well, we'll take a little bit of a break here. Duffy says his discord crashed, so we'll let him get back on and get resynched with us for audio. All right, welcome back. We're getting ready for the next question here for our little game show. Little technical issue there. So hopefully it doesn't sound too bad on your end for the listeners, but is everyone ready for round four? No, I was born ready. [00:51:50] Speaker B: Let's do it. [00:51:51] Speaker A: I like to hear it. All right, here's what I'm done with. [00:51:53] Speaker F: Technical difficulties. [00:51:54] Speaker A: Exactly. 1st 5 seconds of the next audio clip. Say, that's one of the things that has impressed me so far in the group stages from CLG is their planning in the early stages. All right, what do we think? 1st 5 seconds, anybody hankering a guess confident enough to put their points on the line? A reminder, if you answer now, you have the chance to score double points. But then if you want to change your answer after the full thing, you will only earn half points. So it's a gamble. Do it if you're confident. [00:52:27] Speaker B: Oh, gosh. [00:52:28] Speaker D: You know what? You're going to fucking torture me with this. I already know the answer, so. [00:52:32] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Okay. Keep in mind badger is also in first place right now. Duffy and Bickel get we both behind. [00:52:43] Speaker D: Tell me, tell me. [00:52:44] Speaker A: All right, here's the full clip. Say, that's one of the things that has impressed me so far in the group stages from CLG is they're planning in the early stages from the champion select. Depending on what they have, they've been able to track the enemy jungles really well, but peanut actually goes right by it. But who he level, right? [00:53:01] Speaker B: Yes. [00:53:02] Speaker A: It is the roam. [00:53:05] Speaker B: God damn it. Yeah, Badger got it, too. I'm fucked. [00:53:08] Speaker D: I. I knew it. [00:53:10] Speaker A: Level one, Rome. Are you kidding me? [00:53:13] Speaker C: I'm shocked. I got one on a five second clip. [00:53:17] Speaker A: All right, so that was everybody. Everybody else, though we have a few. I do remember Hawk hawks already on his and sweet. So submit your answers. And now. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun. [00:53:35] Speaker C: I'm just shocked that was actually a clip that I'm not just like, I remember this moment, but like, I actually. [00:53:40] Speaker A: Would you like to throw the mm hmm. [00:53:45] Speaker E: Can I throw the place? [00:53:46] Speaker B: It's a big deal. [00:53:47] Speaker A: You have to throw the actual tournament. I guess if you could give the location. Sure. I don't know. [00:53:53] Speaker E: I don't know if that's it. [00:53:54] Speaker A: I don't think that's been in your answer for every single one. I just wanted to be known. Mazelle keeps guessing Madison Square garden, even though it's not one of the prompts. I don't believe it was for this one. Yeah. Bickle, would you like to throw in a guess? [00:54:15] Speaker F: I have an idea. I'm trying to remember, so I'm just going to put what I think it. [00:54:19] Speaker A: Is, throw it in there. Everybody else is theirs in. And I can say Duffy, jacks, badger all submitted theirs early. And I'll get the full points. Baby. It doesn't give you a lot to work with the first 5 seconds, but I'm happy you were all able to get there just through the context clues of kind of what the discussion was at the time. And here is bickles. And there we go. Perfect. Three points for Bickle, three points for Hawk. They both got it correct. But after the full clip, Mazelle gets one point for himself. And that was, of course, 2016 Worlds group stage CLG versus Rocks Tigers. The level one, Rome. [00:54:58] Speaker B: From who he fucking go? [00:55:02] Speaker A: How could you know that that was going to be a clip that was played? [00:55:06] Speaker B: Are you shocked? I'm shocked. Holy moly. Can you believe, guys, that every single moment so far has come from 2015, summer or 2016 as a whole? [00:55:21] Speaker C: That's the second time I've guessed 2016 World's group stage beating Rocks Tigers. [00:55:26] Speaker A: That is the second time you've done that, which is pretty funny, but that was a great moment. Of course, we don't talk about what else happened in that group stage, but that play, we take that one, we take those, we take that to the bank. And we have been taking that to the bank for the last eight years. So fuck. Next play, 5 seconds for everybody to give their first guess. And here we go. A lot of damage. Tactical stays alive but smooth. He's running out of health. The elder, he's behind them. All right, what do we think? What do we think, boys? If you want to give a guess for the first 5 seconds, it's worth double points. But if you then realize something was wrong and you want to change it, you will get only half points. I will give everybody five more seconds to submit their answers. [00:56:22] Speaker D: Hold on. [00:56:24] Speaker A: Yeah, hold on, guys. This isn't how it works. Usually when the judge says something. Hold on, teacher. I know the bell rang, but I got. [00:56:35] Speaker B: So give me a second, bud. Give me a second. I'm thinking. Yeah, all right. I'm thinking here. [00:56:42] Speaker A: Well, I have a DM from Duffy. If Badger doesn't get it within the next 3 seconds, I'm just going to hit the button. A lot of damage. Tapsical stays alive, but smooth. He's running out of health. The elder clowns are defeating him. He's behind. Hope is behind. Can he find the sun? He flashes. He gets the guardian angel. He gets the elder dragon. He gets the double shell. He's going to get the triple as well. Team Liquid will not win, withstand the power of notorious pob. [00:57:09] Speaker B: Love that boy so much. [00:57:11] Speaker A: Well, all right, everybody, get your full answers in. Now remember, use the context clues. Use the players names that you hear. Listen to the casters, who's casting the game and what years were they casting, and then use that to all try and hone in as much of the information as you possibly can to give me your answers. I'm compiling them now. Ooh, Bickle, you're so close. So close. Okay, Hawk, let's see here. [00:57:42] Speaker F: I think Duffy's dying again. [00:57:44] Speaker A: All right, all right. Some points for Hawk. Some points for Hawk. Yeah, I'm just gonna keep compiling the answers over here while Duffy keeps connecting and disconnecting. We back, baby. Another attempt at a seamless resync from the good old that trombone ian. [00:58:00] Speaker F: We don't say it enough, but we love you. [00:58:02] Speaker B: We love you. [00:58:02] Speaker F: Thank you for all of this. [00:58:04] Speaker A: I said it enough. All right, I'm gonna. Let's not give him too much. I'm going to give a little intro here again, all right? And now let's announce the correct answers from this round. We have no one score more than two points. It was two points for Duffy, two for jacks, two for Bickle, one for Hawk, one for badgers. You're for Mazelle. The answer was, of course. 2020 spring split, CLG versus T. This was the split that CLG was doing real rough and then brought in Poe belter as their ringer shows up, makes this insane teleport play, gets a triple kill, and then proceeds to int the rest of the ring split and CLG still bomb out of playoffs. [00:58:49] Speaker B: I don't think they made playoffs this split in 2020. Spring. I do not believe so. [00:58:54] Speaker A: I don't think so. [00:58:55] Speaker B: This is a very, very bad team. [00:58:57] Speaker F: I think they were, like, dead last 2020 spring. [00:59:00] Speaker B: That sounds right to me. [00:59:01] Speaker A: But there you go, Duffy. This one was not from 2016 or 25. [00:59:04] Speaker B: I'm so proud, so happy. No more than just our glory year and a half. [00:59:10] Speaker A: Yeah, but what a year and a half, man. [00:59:12] Speaker B: Oh, my God. We live so high on that year and a half, baby. [00:59:16] Speaker A: All right, we got two more to go, so let's get through them. 5 seconds for the next clip. Now we see boy boy teleporting. They're going into the base. Clgboy. My God. Was I born? [00:59:33] Speaker B: That is actually a great question. [00:59:36] Speaker A: I would. You were, but you might not have had all full cognitive functions. [00:59:47] Speaker E: Yeah, think out loud, Duffy. [00:59:49] Speaker A: Nice. [00:59:51] Speaker D: I remember watching this live. [00:59:55] Speaker A: Jax. You don't get minus points for guessing if I get one of the answers. If you don't know what it is. So you just want to throw in the third category that you're missing. Just see maybe if you get it. Might as well. Okay, Hawk, surprisingly, you got some. Yeah. [01:00:11] Speaker B: Let's go. [01:00:12] Speaker A: I'm so good. I'm so good. All right, and now if anybody doesn't send it within the next 3 seconds, I'm going to play the rest of the clip. Now we're seeing voidboy teleporting. They're going into the base. Clgboy's team. No, fuck. [01:00:34] Speaker B: I got the wrong team. It's fucking crazy. [01:00:48] Speaker A: I do not believe that's still in our, like, podcast intro. Right? It's great stuff. Legendary call, legendary moment. Does anybody else, the two that I do not have yet, or Bickel and Mazelle, throw in your answers to get as many points as you can? There are a couple things. Again, listen to the context clues. The name said who's casting, you know, can already give you kind of idea of the era that this would be from. This is one that was well before my time, though I have gone back and appreciated it since, but I was not there to witness, so. Still waiting on Mazel to get their answers in. [01:01:32] Speaker B: Fuck. God damn it. Tell. You need to tell us what Mazelle's answers are. [01:01:39] Speaker C: I love. [01:01:40] Speaker A: I should just take a screenshot and send them in. [01:01:43] Speaker C: I love to see how Mazelle scoring, how I expected to score. And I'm actually getting points on these. [01:01:49] Speaker A: Everybody can see the scores. I have it on our docs if you want to. Look. [01:01:55] Speaker B: You are setting the bar, my friend, and I don't think. [01:01:57] Speaker A: Well, I need your answers. [01:01:58] Speaker B: Limbo under that. [01:02:00] Speaker E: Hold on. [01:02:00] Speaker F: I'm going to type this now. [01:02:02] Speaker A: Okay, let's go. I'll have everyone know Badger's the only one that got the full six points possible. I knew I. Badger is popping off right now. Jack's got a lot of points. Jack's got two out of three for answering before 5 seconds, although he's shaking his head like he wasn't confident. You got one of them. How much of it I get right? I gave you two points. You got 5 seconds. Yeah, but you only got one of the things correct. [01:02:35] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [01:02:36] Speaker A: Really? One of the categories correct. [01:02:38] Speaker B: Wasn't that turnip? [01:02:39] Speaker A: It was not that tournament. [01:02:40] Speaker B: Fuck. [01:02:41] Speaker A: Mm hmm. I just said like an old tournament and hoped it was right. Oh, you're so close, pickle. Very close. Very close. You almost got all three. Okay, so Badger gets six points, strikes with four, bickle with the same number of correct ones at two. Hawk got two for one correct at five points. Same with Duffy. Or 5 seconds. Mazella. Fortunately, with another goose egg. The answers, of course, 2012 worlds CLG versus Skor. [01:03:16] Speaker C: I thought this was versus curse because I heard Voiboy, but this was during the time when he was boy boy on CF. [01:03:24] Speaker B: I thought this was MLG. [01:03:26] Speaker A: Yep. [01:03:27] Speaker D: Hot shot jungler support. [01:03:30] Speaker A: Yeah. The right earring team against though. I believe Duffy. [01:03:34] Speaker B: I did. I thought I put epic because that was the. The final for MLG that I can remember voibwai being on. [01:03:39] Speaker A: Ah, okay. [01:03:41] Speaker B: But what was the team again? [01:03:43] Speaker A: It was SKG at the time is what their tricode was. Yeah. There we go. Great legendary call. Big moment at the very beginning of CLG's long history. Which brings us to the last one. This is it, the final sound bite, everybody. I'd say for all the marbles, but I think Badger wins no matter what happens here. So let's just have fun with it, okay? And here we go. Can you be a hero? [01:04:10] Speaker B: Let's go. [01:04:13] Speaker A: Duffy. I'm gonna need. I'm gonna play it again for 5 seconds because Duffy just started yelling before the soundbite completed. So everybody else wants to hear it. Can you be a hero? The naked will die so fast. The left kisses necrosis naked. [01:04:28] Speaker B: There we go. [01:04:29] Speaker A: 5 seconds of context again, listen to the clues. There's one that everyone should be able to get correct based on that sound bite right there. But do your best to see if you can figure out the rest of the context. If you want the early points, get them in now. And in 5 seconds I'll play the rest of the clip. And here we go. Nian, can you be a hero? The neck is. Will die so fast. The last up damage a bunch of minion waves. Nian goes in. He fights wild turtle. Wild turtle goes down. Double kill, triple kill for Nian. And the minions will come out, Cyrus. Can you do it? More damage. There are so many minions right now. The minion waves respawn and find a little bit of time. But it's not enough. Counter logic gaming in 60 minutes. Dominions back the base. [01:05:30] Speaker D: There it is. [01:05:32] Speaker B: Insane. What a time. What an actual time. [01:05:36] Speaker A: Great time, Duffy. Wow. I can't believe it. [01:05:41] Speaker B: Mm hmm. [01:05:42] Speaker A: I can't believe it. I don't even know what this is. You just put a long word in there that doesn't mean anything to me. [01:05:48] Speaker B: Nian tonso. [01:05:50] Speaker A: I don't know what Nian Tonso is. [01:05:51] Speaker C: That's Nian's full handle. [01:05:55] Speaker B: Oh, I get bonus points for that one. Maybe like, 15 bonus points. Consider that. [01:06:02] Speaker A: All right, Mazelle, do you have any guess as to any of the information? Everyone else has submitted something and. Thanks, man. You know, I'll give you six points for that. [01:06:18] Speaker E: Let's go. [01:06:19] Speaker B: Six. [01:06:20] Speaker A: Mizelle for his answer. All right, so Mazelle gets six for that one. You said you're pretty cool. Everybody else gets two points. Some of you got TSM correct, which was said in the literal five second sound bite, so that was just free to set two points for you. Some of you got the year correct, but nobody got the full thing. It was 2013. MLG, Anaheim. Wow. ClG versus TSM. Okay, that one was probably the hardest one to get. I thought it was no surprise. [01:06:56] Speaker B: And I thought it was the spring playoffs. [01:07:02] Speaker A: 13, though. And if you just listened to them say, TSM. Here we go. The neck is. Will die so fast. The last. [01:07:11] Speaker D: Do you know what champion he was playing in that clip? [01:07:13] Speaker B: Elise. [01:07:14] Speaker D: Okay. [01:07:15] Speaker A: Yep. [01:07:15] Speaker D: Just making sure. [01:07:17] Speaker A: One before defense of the base. Something crazy like that. [01:07:21] Speaker B: It was such a good play. Holy shit. [01:07:23] Speaker A: The old summoners rift. The old items. [01:07:26] Speaker B: And he was an EU player who came over and replaced it. Replaced, replaced it. Replaced, replaced. Hotshot GG, who had, like, semi retired at that point. Was he in? You're right. I'm thinking of dexterity carry for team. [01:07:42] Speaker D: Martin before, and he had all the potential in the world, but then CLG ruined it by putting him top lane. [01:07:47] Speaker B: Yeah, we just made great decisions every. And it continued all the way to the end, right? [01:07:56] Speaker A: Truly counter logic. Truly counter logic. [01:07:59] Speaker E: Always have the Bud light ace. [01:08:02] Speaker A: Wait. [01:08:02] Speaker B: Come on, man. [01:08:05] Speaker D: There it is. [01:08:06] Speaker A: All right. The points. They got aced twice, bro. Come on. They did the points. As it stands at the end of the game, Mazelle eight points, Hawk. Hawk with 16 points, Bickel with 17, Jax with 18, Duffy with 20, and Badger with 28 points. Kind of smoked this one. With three perfect six points in the rounds out of seven total rounds. [01:08:43] Speaker F: So just, well, points on everything. [01:08:46] Speaker C: I'm genuine that I got third. I thought for sure I'd be in last. Then Mazelle was like, no, I got this fam. [01:08:54] Speaker E: I got boo boo. [01:08:56] Speaker B: I have never watched a day of lcs in my life. [01:09:00] Speaker E: That's just not true. I'm just really bad at remembering specific. [01:09:04] Speaker A: Things and like, all right, I'm gonna screenshot it. What Mazelle said, miss out. [01:09:08] Speaker E: It literally, like, it vexes me. Right? It's like if somebody asked me a question specifically, even if I was there, even if I was part of that moment, I will not. [01:09:16] Speaker B: Even if you were playing in that. [01:09:18] Speaker E: Game, even if I literally got, like, something traumatic happening, I'll be like, I don't know. [01:09:23] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I'm the same way, which is why I'm terrible at all of our trivia. But it's fun to run the games because then I don't have to participate. Mazelle, do I have your permission to post a screenshot of all the answers you sent in the host, please? [01:09:34] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [01:09:35] Speaker A: This is what Mazelle was sending me. What is happening? [01:09:50] Speaker F: Versus some team LCS spring. You're pretty cool. [01:09:54] Speaker A: You didn't even use the right your bro. Oh, my God. You know what? I'll give minus. I'll give half points for that. You're right. Puts him down to five, bro. [01:10:09] Speaker E: This is not what I wanted. [01:10:11] Speaker B: This is not what I was asking for. [01:10:13] Speaker A: Not going to lie. Hawk had some pretty good ones, too. Hawk and I. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. All right. Thanks for participating, everybody. Hopefully the viewers had fun with that one too and got some correct. Let us know if anybody got more than 28. You'd have to keep track of your own points. We'll just kind of have to trust you. But if you were able to get close or beat Badger, who is just kind of carrying the podcast right now when it comes to Trivia games and such, if there's ever like an inter podcast trivia game show, we're sending badger as our rep for sure. [01:10:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:10:45] Speaker A: Which actually makes me think that'd be great content. [01:10:47] Speaker B: Throw the gauntlet at a cubby. Let's see. [01:10:50] Speaker A: Get hotline league on there. [01:10:51] Speaker B: Listen, Travis has been around for almost as long as I have, all right? And Badger has. So they should be able to go head to head. All right, just throw that out there. [01:11:02] Speaker A: They should. [01:11:03] Speaker B: This is my. I'm throwing the challenge as I. I'm literally throwing the challenge and then running out the door. [01:11:08] Speaker A: Well, keep this in mind. If this does happen, let's think of like, the, the representatives hotline league would probably send Travis, I would assume, unless it's just Cubby, because Travis doesn't want to do it. So it's either Travis or Cubby. The dive would probably send Kobe, maybe Azale. And then it would be, he's been. [01:11:25] Speaker C: Part of so many things. [01:11:27] Speaker A: He's been part of so many. Right? And then what? We get Kelsey and Emily's podcast, which I feel so bad, I'm blanking on the name. Oh, making the rounds. Making the rounds. So those two would smoke, everybody. [01:11:37] Speaker D: I think I would. [01:11:40] Speaker A: Sorry, Steve. I think you're also forgetting the other most important league podcast, salty run back rundown. Yeah, you know. Yep. Salty run back. We'll definitely get grapes in knowing your answers for this one. Your co host on that one. All right, well, thanks for playing, everybody. That was a fun way to celebrate a full over decade of CLG history and Duffy being host of the league rundown for, for many, many years. But all good things must come to an end. Duffy, we will miss you, but I want to give you the floor. You know, I know that you have some things on your mind that you want to just talk to us and the community about and kind of do a little story time. So I will now pass the mic. [01:12:17] Speaker D: Tell us about the war, grandpa. [01:12:19] Speaker A: Story time. [01:12:20] Speaker B: I will. Because there is kind of a war. There's a war for your heart and soul. No, I'm kidding. I don't give a fuck about that. So I just kind of want to talk about the fact, like, the story of how I even came into the rundown itself. In 2010, I went to college. I went to UC Davis, which was not in my top five. It was not in my top ten. It was not in my top 15. In fact, it was literally a safety school I threw on there. And I was so fucking pissed that I had to go there because no other school admitted me. But I figured, hey, I'm going to, like, be there. I'm going to walk onto the soccer team. They're pretty good. I'm pretty good at soccer. This is going to be a. And the assistant coach really liked me. I was going to red shirt freshman year, and then I broke my foot the first year of school or first week of school. So literally I went to all my classes. One time I got a couple of practices in, and then I was in a boot for the entirety of the rainiest season on record in northern California. And I found solace in video games in League of Legends, specifically where I was able to play with people who were back home using, I think at the time in 2014, 920 ten I was using cursed voice. Does that sound right? Jax? [01:13:36] Speaker C: I don't think 2000 920 ten, I don't think cursed voice was around yet. [01:13:41] Speaker B: Was not out yet. Okay. I was probably still using Ventrilo, but then eventually made the move to curse voice. Whenever that came out. [01:13:48] Speaker C: That would have been like 2012, 2011. [01:13:50] Speaker B: Okay, that sounds right. A couple of years later, which eventually evolved into what we're using right now, which is fucking insane, became discord. So I use that as a way to, like, stay active and, like, stay connected with people. And I met so many other people, people who I actually knew, like vaguely back home. I found all played league. And through that I also learned about the professional scene, which at that point was incredibly nascent because we're talking right out of beta and we're looking at preseason, you know, season one when it was a bunch of goofballs. I think that technically I started watching before CLG was actually even a team, certainly before TSM, which was an offshoot of CLG. And there was all these huge rivalries of people who were just twitch streamers. And it was a crazy, wild time back in the Internet when twitch streaming was kind of this just insane thing and people were doing fucking balls to the walls, crazy things, really stupid things that would probably not fly anymore. I think it was called Justin tv at that point as well. It wasn't even twitch yet. And so I just kind of like played and watched, and I wasn't very good. I didn't really care though. I was just hanging out with friends and I was really enjoying the strategic element of league because all I could do was sit at home and watch anything anyway. So I'd watch a bunch of soccer and then I'd watch league. And a couple years later, my senior year of college, I was watching a ton of league, and a friend of mine in 2013, 2014 said, hey, I'm on a podcast. We keep having people not show up. I know that you like League of Legends and you watch the pro scene. You want to jump on this week we need a guest. I was like, all right, cool, I'll jump on. And the next week, Mot Gnorum asked me if I would be a consistent co host, and I said, bro, I am in college. I stay up till 04:00 a.m. of course I got time to be on a podcast. Let's fucking go. And from that point, onward. I was a consistent co host for years and years. Had a lot of fun just jumping on, shooting the shit, talking about professional league with people who all became my friends even as they came and went under Machinorum and his parting the kimono tutelage. Eventually, Mot decided to retire for similar reasons as me. He got married and was starting to build a family, have some kids, and just didn't have the time to commit anymore. So he pulled me aside and asked me to, hey, you seem, like, interested in this, and let's be honest, you don't got a lot going on. I was like, well, fuck you. You're right, 2016 or so, maybe 2017. And yeah, he asked me to host the podcast and I kind of just took it from there. What Mot had created was really interesting. People who are listening now who maybe haven't been listening for a while, you're actually going to know some of his original co hosts. One of them you may not know because he's been out of the scene for a bit, is Optimus Tom, who actually worked for Riot as a stats guru and was the stats guy for a long time in riot, specifically for the lcs and worlds level competitions before stepping aside, I think in 2020. And then here's a name, Dracos. He used to go by CEFa in the beginning of the LEC period for him, but also when he was on the cast many, many years ago. There are a couple others who came and went before me. So when I took it on, though, it was just a bunch of goofballs. A bunch of people who just kind of enjoyed watching the game and were interested enough to come talk with their friends about it. And I really am thankful for all y'all who have been listening since that time, who picked it up during that time and thought, hey, this is kind of fun. This is compelling. I'm going to keep subscribing to this. Listen to two goddamn hours of a bunch of idiots talk about a game that they barely understand but they clearly love and they clearly enjoy being a part of. And hopefully that joy was imparted on all of y'all who listened. Even as we make fun of the lcs, the LEC, even as we trash some of the decisions, and lately, many of the decisions riot has made, it's still just such a fun way to spend time with people you know and with people you know and people you come to love, which is a lot of what this cast has become for me over the years, even again, as people have come and go. I mean shit, dude. Life pops up. That's how it goes. We've had some wonderful people who've come through here. I'm super excited for my wedding in a couple of weeks, which a couple of these members are gonna actually be enjoying the wedding with me, which kicks fucking ass. Everyone make fun of kangas, by the way, for not going to my wedding. Wedding to go to. [01:18:29] Speaker F: How dare you? [01:18:31] Speaker A: Not my own wedding. But I'm in another wedding. Yes. [01:18:34] Speaker B: He's in another story. He's not getting married. He's married to the game. [01:18:38] Speaker A: I asked Duffy to reschedule. [01:18:41] Speaker B: To be fair, my fiance's the one who said no. [01:18:45] Speaker A: Okay, all right, my bad. I'll call her. [01:18:47] Speaker B: Yeah, good luck. [01:18:49] Speaker E: I want to listen to that conversation. [01:18:51] Speaker B: Yeah, that's going to go super well. So I'm super excited for what this cast is going to become. I feel that the direction has changed a lot from what when Mott first gave it to me, my idea was, hey, this is fun. It's a bunch of goofballs. Let's keep that going. But through the years, I want to be building on it with, like, real people with real talent in the industry. Like, let's talk to those people. We got some really, like, sick interviews. We had Marty laser chickens. Very funny to call him by that, because I can't pronounce his last name because it's greek. Who was the owner and really the founder of Splice, which became eventually mad Lions. He actually heard us on the podcast talking shit about splice, and he came on to set the record straight and instantly made most of us into splice fans as he explained, like, the realities of the situation, his full reasoning behind these decisions. We've had multiple other really awesome guests. You know, just spend time with us, chatting. Peter Dunn has been a recurring guest on this thing, which for me is such a big win because I fucking love, like, what he's done in the LEC, especially. And with evil geniuses, when evil geniuses was no worth remembering. So, yeah, I'm really proud of what we built together. I'm really proud of all the things we did together. I'm proud of every stupid goof we made. I'm proud of every week when we actually got an episode out, despite everything, including this one where my computer basically crashed twice during the recording of this. [01:20:23] Speaker A: Which has everyone say, thank you, Ian in the discord. [01:20:26] Speaker B: For real. Only reason this will happen, which has never happened before in the history of the podcast. I've never had this problem before, and it's just insane. So a decade later, to be hanging up the mic in this regard is crazy. It's a lot. I'm gonna really struggle to, like, figure out every Tuesday, every Monday night shit, dude, I don't have a podcast to record. That's something I'm gonna have to kick the habit on. But I'm super excited that Steve's willing and able to take this and run with it. I'm excited that he can take it in a new direction that's gonna fit his strengths, his network, what he really thinks that this thing can be, which is the ultimate goal for what I really wanted out of this thing, which is more than just me showing up and probably Jax, because we were the only two show up every now and then. And to have some people who, like, know what the fuck they're talking about, who are, like, really connected to the scene in a way that, you know, we never, we never were, we never really aspired to. We always like to be kind of the outside people looking in and I think you're going to keep some of that chip on the shoulder and some of that heat with it. [01:21:36] Speaker C: I promise to keep the outside people looking in part of this podcast alive and well because I am a nobody. [01:21:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:21:46] Speaker A: And I think he bringing on industry people and Jax is going to say stuff that we're all going to be like, mmm, yeah, that's a take. We cannot comment on that. [01:21:54] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:21:55] Speaker B: I have signed things that says my. [01:21:58] Speaker C: Twitter is going to guarantee that I'm never going to be on any kind of official broadcast of any sort. [01:22:03] Speaker F: Oh, dear God. [01:22:04] Speaker A: That's why we don't link your twitter ever. It doesn't exist. [01:22:10] Speaker B: Yep. So for those of you all who have enjoyed my run on the show as the host or just as a co host, I really, really do appreciate it. For those of you who joined the discord and become more than just listeners, but become friends, become people, you know, we play games together every week, every two weeks, every couple of days. And if you're one of those who wants to, you know, hang out, still come join the discord, come hang out with me. I'm going to keep trying to organize game nights as a way to stay connected to the community. I'm thinking about some other ways that I can spend more free time, you know, less scheduled to still stay connected to professional League of Legends in some way. And I'm really excited for some of the ideas I've got, but I'm more excited for what Steve's gonna do with the rundown. And I'm so thankful to every one of you fucking dumbass goofballs who took this journey with me over the past decade. So thank you, guys. [01:23:07] Speaker C: And also, you are contractually obligated to come back for every milestone episode we get, so we'll hear from you at least once a year. [01:23:13] Speaker A: True. [01:23:13] Speaker B: Okay. Well, I've got about seven or, what, 86 episodes until the 600th, so I think I'm good for a bit. [01:23:21] Speaker A: Pretty sure 515 is a pretty big one. [01:23:27] Speaker B: You know what? If you can convince my soon to be wife that that's a big deal, I'll be back. [01:23:34] Speaker A: All things. All seriousness, though, Duffy, I think I speak for everybody on the cast, everybody in the community, when I say thank you. We love you. Thank you for the years that you put into this. We love you. You are a pillar of our community. You built your own community, which you are still going to be a pillar of. I'm sure that people will not stop interacting with you in the discord. You'll still be hanging out in there occasionally with folks, even if you don't have the time to stay on the pod full time. But thank you for bringing me on. I remember trying out. I don't know. I don't know if you remember this or if we've talked about this. I submitted two different applications to join the show. One was back when I was in college in, like, 2017 or something, and I didn't even hear back, probably. The audio was awful. I was using like a. Like a plug in USB headset mic. It was bad. But then the second time I submitted an application, I remember you wanted to hop on a call and chat with me. Me. And you specifically said, the things that I said in the application that spoke to you was the fact that first and foremost, I said I was a fan and that you're like, that's what I want on my podcast. I want people that enjoy and are fans and want to be here and want to talk about League of Legends. And I think week in and week out, you've shown up and shown your passion for the scene in the sport. Thank you for all that you've done for us. [01:25:00] Speaker B: Thanks, man. I will say in 2017, that was probably still mot, so I do not take credit for that. [01:25:09] Speaker F: Just so much. You've grown this podcast over time. It's been ups and downs. Even when we threw out to build the initial community discord, that's where Mongoose and I originated from. We were just random guys in the discord. Mongoose who posted a lot and made an entire run of being the rank one person in that discord. And me, the guy who randomly posted about four paragraphs about the LPL every day just to update people about what was going on. And randomly before MSI back in 2021, Duffy just shoots both of us messages saying, hey, what are you doing on this day? You want to come talk about an international event? Because you two seem to know what's going on. And it was a one off thing that we enjoyed. We stuck around the discord, and I don't think he's been able to get. [01:25:57] Speaker B: Rid of us yet, although that is true every single. [01:26:04] Speaker E: I don't know. I get emotional about these kinds of things, so I'll try not to go too crazy, but, yeah, I don't know. When I first started casting LPL, imposter syndrome is a hell of a bitch. And. I don't know. We had a podcast for LPL was always awful. We never got any. Any resources, anything like that. And then I know Kangas would ask me occasionally to come on here, and then I would come on more regularly, and then you asked me to be on it as a. As an official host. And I don't know. To me, that moment felt like. I don't know how to say. It's just a reiteration that I knew I was a part of an actual league. I was a part of a podcast that actually cared about the game and that I could actually have fun with. And I don't know. I've been in this for a little while now. Not as much as you guys, but it's been an absolute honor, and you've been a huge pillar of that for this entire time and a huge light in that, Duffy. And you're one of my great friends now, and I appreciate everything you've done. [01:27:04] Speaker B: Thank you, man. You are the king of the lPL. Don't you forget it. [01:27:09] Speaker A: Mister Mzelpiel. But. [01:27:10] Speaker E: Yep, mister Mazal. [01:27:12] Speaker B: I still think mine was better. [01:27:15] Speaker E: It'll be a discussion for the rest of the time. [01:27:17] Speaker B: Yeah, there we go. [01:27:18] Speaker A: Well, I'll give approximately five more seconds for badger to say something snappy. [01:27:22] Speaker D: I was gonna say, is it my turn, or am I gonna have to wait like, God damn? So my relationship with this has been really interesting. Cause I was adjacent to you guys for a while when all of this started. I just kind of. I casted the rundown versus proper show match, like, ten years ago. I think that would have even been before you were around. [01:27:48] Speaker B: I was not on the cast. [01:27:49] Speaker D: I was going to say, okay, I didn't know if you were. If you were part of it. I. The video has disappeared since then, probably because they lost and they didn't want. [01:27:57] Speaker A: To have the evidence to join, so. [01:28:01] Speaker D: But it's been really cool just as someone who's been there from the beginning, just to see how much you have grown, all of this as a whole, just, like, being alongside it first as a listener and, like, well, I guess first as someone who was contributing alongside in the network to this podcast, to transitioning to. I'm just a listener now. This is cool. And with the occasional, hey, you want to come on and talk about week four of 2017 summer, like, with us? And it's like, yeah, sure. We need another body. Like, we know what you're doing. We know you know your stuff. And it's like, okay, yeah, that's cool. So, like. And just always having it so that, like, I would do my once every six months appearance or whatever it is, and you're just, like, always there. And then, of course, joining as, like, a full time host there also just. It's been a really good experience because, like, Mazelle imposter symbol. Like Mazelle said, imposter syndrome is a bitch. So just kind of being around the scene for a while and never really putting my name on anything, just having this to be there was always a really cool, like, it kind of made me feel like I had a place in the scene for a little bit. Like, even if it's just a small, minor thing like this, even though, you know, I never really put my name with stuff. So this was always a cool thing to just have it be out there like that. [01:29:40] Speaker B: So, hey, this is the longest lasting and oldest weekly Lowell esports podcast in the world, period. [01:29:53] Speaker A: Yeah, it is. [01:29:54] Speaker B: So, yeah, you got your mark on something that will withstand time, I think. Right, guys? [01:30:00] Speaker A: This. [01:30:01] Speaker B: This thing's gonna go forever. [01:30:02] Speaker A: We got years in front of us. [01:30:04] Speaker D: We got years in front of us, for sure. [01:30:08] Speaker B: Thank you, man. [01:30:08] Speaker A: Well, thanks, everybody, for, you know, sharing what we rehearsed for Duffy. [01:30:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Well done, guys. [01:30:17] Speaker A: I forgot to share something. Yes. Hawk, would you like to say something for a few weeks? Longest run podcast in league of legends history for about four weeks now. I still remember back then, I was just all that guy in the scene, and now I'm some guy in the scene. Also a part of a podcast because of Duffy. So shout out Duffy for that, you know? [01:30:51] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, you're part of two podcasts. [01:30:54] Speaker A: That's true. Right? I've doubled my number of podcasts, and I could not have done that if. [01:30:59] Speaker B: It weren't for Duffy. [01:30:59] Speaker A: So let's go. [01:31:01] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:31:02] Speaker A: I can't thank you enough. For real. For real. At the time I've been here, it's been really welcoming and everything, and I've had a lot of fun. And, you know, even though I'm new here, I mean, it's not hard to see one when something positive has been built, and I think that's very valuable. So hell, yeah, dude. [01:31:18] Speaker B: You're going to rock it. You guys are going to have such a good time. I'm super stoked for what Steve's got. Thanks to every single one of you guys who've been here, thanks to everyone who's ever been a co host. You know who I'm going to name first, but I won't even name it because we already know who it is. But thanks to literally every single person who's done this crazy thing with us, I'm super excited. [01:31:40] Speaker A: Wasn't it? [01:31:41] Speaker B: It was going to be Blake. It's pickle. Come on. [01:31:44] Speaker E: It's pickle. [01:31:45] Speaker B: It's Blake. Sorry, Pickle. But thank you, guys. I'm really excited. You guys are going to do great. I'm super stoked to be upgraded to a listener, not having to feel prepared every Monday afternoon, Monday evening, not having to hustle back from work. I'm excited to just be, you know, a member of the discord, wield completely insane power, far above what I should have in there. [01:32:13] Speaker A: Oh, we're taking that away from you. [01:32:14] Speaker B: Oh, God. You can't. I'm an admin. Nice. [01:32:16] Speaker A: Damn it. [01:32:17] Speaker B: Try Ian. No, Ian, don't do it. [01:32:21] Speaker A: Ian. [01:32:21] Speaker B: I'm sorry for all of the things you have to do on this episode, but please don't take that from me. Thank you, guys. Thanks a lot. You guys didn't do great. It's going to be super fucking cool. I'm excited for how the rundown is going to resurge along with the LCS. I don't think league is going anywhere. I think league is here to stay for quite some time. Even if we see, you know, valleys, there's gonna be mountains in the future, and it's gonna be really cool to be here and to be resilient and be part of it as this whole thing resurges. So it's gonna be fun to watch. It's gonna be fun to watch and not have to be like, God, I have to watch. [01:32:54] Speaker A: I'm excited for you, honestly. Yeah, you don't have to. Although I think you're gonna miss the draft. I'm excited for that. Next week. It's one of my favorite episodes that we do every time. And sometimes you do it for the Patriots patrons spoilers. This time we're going to be doing it for everybody. I think that that's content that everyone should listen to, especially since we only have LEc preview for next week. But where we get a draft. [01:33:18] Speaker B: This is changing rapidly. [01:33:21] Speaker A: Welcome everybody to the LPL rundown. [01:33:25] Speaker D: We've been talking about running over eastern leagues show for the longest time, but really it just took King singing Duffy out the door. [01:33:32] Speaker A: Really, that's all it was. And I was supportive. [01:33:36] Speaker D: You guys just never figured you're not wrong. [01:33:40] Speaker A: We never did. [01:33:42] Speaker B: I was like, that's great, go for it. [01:33:45] Speaker A: And then nothing. Well, you don't have to support our dreams anymore, Duffy. You'll support from afar, so we'll do just fine. But we will miss you. Thank you so much for everything you've done. Thank you everybody for listening and for supporting Duffy. We love you so much. Reminder, check out the Patreon. If you want to help support the. [01:34:04] Speaker B: Show, subscribe to the Patreon. [01:34:05] Speaker A: Subscribe to the Patreon. We have bullshitter episodes that go up and we're going to be doing some fun stuff after summer season between summer split and worlds, some fun stuff with the community using some of that Patreon fund. So I'm going to be teasing that now and then announcing more stuff about that throughout the summer, what the plan is. And also check out the community discord as well if you can. Leave us a thumbs up or five stars and wherever you're listening. And don't forget next week to wish Duffy a happy birthday. We love you all very much and we will see you next time. [01:34:37] Speaker B: Bye bye. [01:34:38] Speaker D: Bye everyone. [01:34:38] Speaker B: Peace. [01:34:39] Speaker E: Zero seven. Duffy.
